It's not so hard to look your best when you know where to look
Physical appearance can make a huge difference to self-confidence and self-esteem and there is now more focus on beauty and aesthetic appeal than ever before. Most people are concerned about their appearance and will make an effort to look good on a daily basis.
Looking good doesn't come easy
In order to look your best it is a good idea to exercise on a regular basis; exercise has a range of health benefits, as well as helping to ensure your body weight stays stable and healthy and enabling you to get rid of stress and frustration. Exercise also enables you to meet new people and have some time to yourself. Many people exercise to keep fit and improve the overall aesthetic of your body; exercise helps to burn fat and tone muscles, which helps to create a more attractive silhouette. Exercise need not be boring; you don't have to spend hours sweating in the gym, you can also get outdoors and cycle, swim, climb, trek or canoe, join an exercise class, such as kickboxing or aerobics or join a team and play netball, football, rugby, hockey or cricket. If you are conscious about exercising in front of others, you can buy an exercise DVD to do at home or buy some home gym equipment.
It's not just the sate of your body
Clothing and make-up can also make a huge difference; when it comes to clothing, it is important to known which styles and shapes suit your body. Try to buy clothes which flatter your shape and complexion, rather than those that are in fashion but don't do anything for you. Treat yourself to some new clothes once in a while, as there in nothing quite like a gorgeous new outfit to give your confidence a boost. Many women use make-up to enhance their looks and give them a bit of confidence but take care not to apply too much; keep your look natural for the daytime.
Give yourself a break
Try to pamper yourself now and again and look after your hair, nails and skin; you should try to have your hair cut every six-eight weeks and regular manicures and pedicures will do your nails the world of good. If you cannot afford salon treatments, look out for deals in magazines or promotional offers at salons; alternatively, you can arrange a girly get-together at home and you can all do each other's nails. To keep your skin looking and feeling smooth and glowing, try to exfoliate on a weekly basis and adopt a daily skincare regime of cleansing, toning and moisturising.
You are what you eat
Eating healthily will also help to give you a healthy glow so ditch the fast food in favour of foods such as pulses, wholegrains, fresh fish, vegetables and fruits. Fruits and vegetables are packed with a variety of nutrients, minerals and vitamins, which have a range of health benefits. Eating healthily will also help to keep your body weight stable and reduce the risk of a number of serious illnesses including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer.
Oral hygiene
It is also really important to take care of your teeth; most people form opinions and impressions of others within seconds of meeting them, meaning that your smile can have a huge impact on how people perceive you. Ensure you brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and use mouthwash and dental floss on a daily basis; you should also take care to visit your dentist for regular check-ups.
