Organic Skincare: The Secret to Vibrant Skin
Your skin is the largets organ of your body, intimately connected to your internal organs and immune system though your lymphatic and blood vessles. Spots, blemishes, dermatitis, rosacea, acne, and eczema are mirrors of what is happening inside your body. Your body needs key nutrients for both inside and out.
By sweating, your skin expels toxins to cleanse your body. It therefore follows that it is essential to keep your skin's epidermis healthy and clean. The average weight of an adult's skin is 10 kg, and it renews itself once every 28 days. Given this fast turnover, it is vital to feed your skin with the ideal nutrients to keep it health and moist.
Your skin absorbs Oxygen and releases Carbon Dioxide, which is another reason you should keep it clean and healthy: Non organic skincare products contain synthetic ingredients which clog your pores, and stop your skin from being able to breathe properly. The result is tired and opaque looking skin, and premature wrinkles.
Your skin needs essential fatty acids (EFAs) which it cannot produce by itself: A healthy, organic diet, rich in raw vegetables, which are high in antioxidants, vitamins and important minerals, is essential. Organic oils (cold pressed) such as olive oil, seed sprout, nuts, and fish are also important. And water is vital: to hydrate and to stimulate metabolic exchanges and flush out waste. Needless to say, junk food, alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, and a lack of excercise negatively affects your skin's vitality, as they reduce the oxygen supply to it. Oil based organic skincare is very similar to the skin sebum, and will be welcomed by the skin, with high content of ω-3 and ω-6, β-carotene, chlorophyll and antioxidant.
Therefore, in this manic life we are in, it is a very good practice to invest part of our time incorporating an organic skincare regime, and having periodic massages, or reflexology, or all sort of therapies acting manually on the skin. The mind will relax, the tension will disappear and our mood will be positively conditioned, as well as our self-esteem, helping us to see in a different positive prospective our life and the world.
