The Greatest Ever Soccer Players

Over the 1900’s there have been several football players that have inspired, moved and been an absolute dream to follow. The top 5 that I have put up for deliberation for the best players of all time are as follows:

1. Pele - Generally folk will give the number one to Pele, and in my view this is rightly so. Born into deprivation and learning to play on the streets of his home country he worked hard to be the best there is and his on pitch performances were a great way from being dreary and uninteresting. At the age of just sixteen he made his first appearance in the Brazilian league and was then handed a place in the Brazil World Cup team of 1958 where they ultimately went on to pick up the trophy.

2. Maradona - Who was born in Argentina and became renowned for his time at Boca and Napoli. He was notrorious for that famous "Hand of God" goal that knocked out England in the 1986 World Cup Quarter Final.

3. Cruyff - Was perhaps of the most gifted players of his generation and all time, he was an exceptional dribbler of the ball and three time world footballer of the year. Not only that but he established a method of football known as Total Football where players interchanged their position on the pitch on a common basis.

4. Beckenbauer - Had a tactical brain and was renowned for his performance that influenced the game and his teams. It is odd for a defender to reach the top 5 but Beckenbauer’s play and wisdom of the game puts him above most in the world.

5. George Best - A phenomenon to the footballing world and a person that created, set up and scored to a world class standard. His vision, fancy skills and rapid pace could take him through the best defences in the world and leave them in his wake.
